SOIL AND CLIMATE

The Romans occupied first this unique site, and long after the Knights Templar erected there a priory, from which a few relics can still be seen.

In the same family since 1802, Château de Cabriac is now owned by Jean and Michèle de Cibeins, who attend with care to the vineyards and the winemaking.

The soil of the Cabriac estate is formed of clay and limestone on shallow sandstone and marl, warming up
quickly. On the Northern edge of Alaric it is protected from the Mediterranean heat snaps, enabling thus a slow and progressive ripening of the grapes.

Besides, the diversity of expositions allows the Mediterranean grape varieties, such as Mourvedre and Syrah, to develop their aromatic qualities to their full potential.

The wines of Château de Cabriac owe their quality to the human and material resources that are implemented to turn this fruit of the earth into a wine which can fully satisfy the spirit as well as the senses.

CULTIVATED AREA AND GRAPE TYPES

The estate spreads on more that 90 ha, 54 ha in Corbières and 36 ha in Vins de Pays d’Oc. Since the early seventies the de Cibeins family has been among the pioneers who introduced Mediterranean grape varieties : Syrah and Mourvedre for the A.O.C., Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Syrah and Pinot for Vins de Pays.
Besides, the white wines were enlarged by the planting of Rolle, Roussanne and Viognier.
